The Entel DT885 is the latest addition to the range of intrinsically safe radios, the rugged DT885 delivers exceptionally loud audio alongside it being clear, the ergonomic controls are specifically designed for gloved hand use making this the ideal radio for businesses who require a effective communication solution.

The DT885 radio has a IP68 rating resulting in it being protected against dust and fully Submersible, this is useful for businesses who work in harsh environments as it means that they will be protected against everyday conditions which they may come across. Alongside this, the DT885 meets MIL-STD 810 C/D/E/D standards and provides commercial grade construction for tough, enduring performances. This radio conforms to stringent standards which enables them to withstand the everyday rigours of shock, vibration and the corrosive effects of dust and moisture, this again helps industries such as construction, logistics and transportation.

The Entel DT885 is supplied with the latest intelligent Lithium-Ion battery technology. An advantage of this battery is the way in which it eliminates 'memory effect', this means that there is no need to fully discharge the battery before recharging, alongside this it gives the operator reassurance that the battery will have full charge when they come to use it.

This radio has a high contrast white on black OLED display screen which delivers superior readability in varying light conditions adding to the radios intuitive user interface.

The DMR Digital standard splits a single analogue channel into two different channels resulting in the amount of channels available doubling for the operator. This feature is known as two-slot simple and is typically only possible when a DMR Repeater is included within the system. With this radio then it is able to overcome this restriction on both Simplex and DMR 446 channels resulting in both channels always being available to the user no matter the channel type.

With the DT885 then it supports 8 channel zones and each one has up to 256 channels per zone. With this then the zones can be used to store channels for use at different sites, other radios ect. With this radio having a display screen then they are able to receive DMRA compliant text messages from other devices, this is useful if you do not want the message to be heard however still require to communicate.

Businesses want to ensure that operators are safe when on site, with the Entel DT885 then it has some features incorporated within the radio to ensure that the user is able to get assistance if required at a push of the button. One of the functions is an emergency button, with this then the radio will instantly send an alarm call to other radio users alongside sounding a local alarm, this will signal to others that the person requires assistance. The Lone-worker alarm is designed to protect people who work alone, with this then the lone-worker timer checks that the radio user is okay, if there is not response received then the radio will automatically send an alarm call to other radios. The man-down alarm is again to protect people who work alone however this alarm works slightly differently. If someone was to fall and become unconscious, then the man-down sensor would automatically send an alarm, this would result in other radios being called as well as the local alarm alerting non-radio users in the vicinity to the emergency.

Individual calling is when you are able to have 1-2-1 calls where it is only you and the person which you have called in the conversation, with this function then you have the option to ring the radio and wait for the person to answer as well as making an instant call without any ringing first. This is useful for businesses as it is a simple way of communicating effectively with an individual. The group calling function is the most popular form of two-way radio call, this allows you to instantly address two or more radios at one time, this is useful again for businesses as they are able to communicate with larger groups of people at one time.

The radios multi-pin interface and the micro-USB socket are both submersible and gold-plated in order to minimise any risk of damage and to protect against corrosion. In addition with this then the radio has incorporated a robust locking connector and the radios accessory socket has been specifically designed so that when an accessory is secured to the portable then the connection is able to withstand any amount of punishment, this is against things such as careless misuse and dropping of the radio.

We understand that every business has different requirements when it comes to radios and it can be hard to find the 'perfect' radio. With the Entel DT885 then it has the option for programmable buttons, with this then you are able to ensure that the radio meets your exact needs as the buttons can be programmed with the exact features which you require.

With the Entel DT885 then it has the function of multiple receive groups, with this then you are enabled to monitor two or more groups at a time. This is useful for businesses as it enables them to monitor the groups which they require to from one device making it simple. Just like a mobile phone, the DT885 has the option to display the name or alias on the screen, this could be something such as 'Reception' or the radio user name. This makes it easy for the operator to know who they are communicating with to avoid any confusion.

The accessory audio tailoring identifies the attached accessory on the radio and then automatically adjusts the settings to ensure that the most natural and readable audio possible is delivered, this ensure that the clearest communication is portrayed and all messages are clear. Another feature which this radio has is voice annunciation, this feature is able to announce the channel position which is selected or if it is a marine model then it can give the marine channel number. This then gives further assurance to the user that they have selected the correct channel which allows them to focus on the task in hand.

All call is a feature which provides you with the ability to call all radios on the channel at once, this is useful for businesses who want to make important announcements such as a emergency safety evacuation. As this radio has a display screen you are able to send pre-defined text messages to other radios, this helps to save the operator time when they are wanted to communicate with someone as they are already pre-programmed. In addition to this you are able to upload your own logo to the display screen, with this then as the radio is loading up you can show your logo on the screen which gives it that personal touch.

Yes! This radio is a full-power unit which works on licensed spectrum. Here’s a few important points to remember:

    • Licencing is really easy and cost effective, so don’t be put off
    • You only licence the frequency (channel) your radios use, not the number of radios or handsets
    • If you’re buying radios to use outside of the UK, you will need to get a licence from your country’s regulatory body
    • Want us to guide you through it? Call us on 01778 426777 or email info@theradioshop.co.uk

    Buy a licence online:

You can choose from one of the following two options to buy a licence online. Once you place your order, we’ll apply for the licence for you, which is valid for 5 years. Ofcom will then contact you directly in 5 years’ time to arrange the renewal.

Remember: you don’t need a licence per radio, just a licence per fleet of radios. One licence will usually provide enough cover for your company or site (or you as an individual if you’re buying for private use)

    I already have a licence:

If you already have radios, you should already have a licence. If you’d like your new radios to work with your existing fleet, you need to send us:

    • A copy of your existing Ofcom licence
    • For digital radios:
      • Let us know which frequencies are in which channel
      • Which colour code you use
      • Which digital group ID you use
    • For analogue radios:
      • Let us know which frequencies are in which channel
      • What CTCSS/TPL/DPL tone you use

Alternatively, you can send us a programming file from one of your existing radios, or even post us one of your existing handsets so that we can make sure we match it correctly.

Note that we accept no responsibility for radios which do not work due to incorrectly provided information. We’ll program your radios for free upon order, but if they don’t work and need re-programming there will be a £10 + VAT fee per unit.
