The Entel DX485M has been designed to specifically meet the requirements and needs of harsh marine environments, this radio offers outstanding performance in both DMR digital and analogue modes and will definitely deliver in high-end quality. The rugged handset delivers audio volume and clarity which is unmatched by radios which are twice its size, the high contrast OLED display is complemented by the intuitive controls which has been designed for use with gloved hands in mind.

The DX485M radio has a IP68 rating resulting in it being protected against dust and fully Submersible, this is useful for businesses who work in harsh environments as it means that they will be protected against everyday conditions which they may come across. Alongside this, the DX485M meets MIL-STD 810 C/D/E/D standards and provides commercial grade construction for tough, enduring performances. This radio conforms to stringent standards which enables them to withstand the everyday rigours of shock, vibration and the corrosive effects of dust and moisture, this again helps industries such as construction, logistics and transportation.

The Entel DX485M is supplied with the latest intelligent Lithium-Ion battery technology. An advantage of this battery is the way in which it eliminates 'memory effect', this means that there is no need to fully discharge the battery before recharging, alongside this it gives the operator reassurance that the battery will have full charge when they come to use it. The DX485M benefits from TDMA Digital mode signalling which increases battery endurance by up to 40% which ensures longer standby and talk times, this is useful for businesses as it means that they can ensure effective, clear environments for longer periods of time.

The robust accessory socket has been specifically designed in order to ensure that when an accessory is secured to the portable, then the connection is able to withstand any amount of punishment, this includes dropping of the radio and careless misuse. This is again useful for businesses especially in sectors such as transportation and logistics as it means that they are able to know that the radio is protected in these harsh environments if someone did accidentally drop the radio or through slight operation misuse.

n order to avoid an accidental operation, the DX485M has a keylock function which means that the radio keys and controls can be locked by the user at any time, alongside this you are able to get the radio to automatically do this for you. With this radio then it has TDMA two-slot direct mode which is also known as two-slot simplex. With this then the DMR Digital standard splits a single analogue channel into two separate channels which then doubles the amount of channels available to the radio user. The two-slot operation is typically only possible when a DMR Repeater is included in the system, this radio is able to overcome this restriction on both Simplex and DMR446 channels meaning that both channels are always available to the user no matter on the channel type.

The Entel DX485M benefits from a high contrast white on black OLED display which delivers superior readability in varying  light conditions adding to the radio intuitive user interface. This radio has improved and added features through the use of free software updates. Using Entels innovative End User Programmer app, this radio can be easily upgraded without the Dealer having to visit site or taking back the radios, this saves significant time and expense for businesses as they are able to do this by themselves in simple steps.

In mixed mode operation, the radio can receive both DMR Digital and Analogue modes without the user having to change the channel. Mixed mode is beneficial where you require both analogue and digital radios to be used together.

The DX485M provide the option for both individual and group calling and these can be selected through the channel control and the contact list. With this then you are able to have 1-2-1 conversations with the team or you can call more than two people at a time. This is good for businesses as they have the option to have private communications if required or can communicate with a large group of people if the message needs to get out there, this could be something such as a emergency call.

The personal attack button helps to keep radio users safe, once activated then the radio will send an alarm call to other radios in addition to sounding a local alarm. The Entel DX485M is designed to protect lone workers, the radios lone-worker timer checks that the radio user is okay, if there is not a response then the radio will automatically send an alarm call to other radios as well as the local alarm alerting non-radio users in the vicinity to the emergency, Should someone fall and become unconscious then the optional man-down sensor can automatically send an alarm.

Yes! This radio is a full-power unit which works on licensed spectrum. Here’s a few important points to remember:

    • Licencing is really easy and cost effective, so don’t be put off
    • You only licence the frequency (channel) your radios use, not the number of radios or handsets
    • If you’re buying radios to use outside of the UK, you will need to get a licence from your country’s regulatory body
    • Want us to guide you through it? Call us on 01778 426777 or email info@theradioshop.co.uk

    Buy a licence online:

You can choose from one of the following two options to buy a licence online. Once you place your order, we’ll apply for the licence for you, which is valid for 5 years. Ofcom will then contact you directly in 5 years’ time to arrange the renewal.

Remember: you don’t need a licence per radio, just a licence per fleet of radios. One licence will usually provide enough cover for your company or site (or you as an individual if you’re buying for private use)

    I already have a licence:

If you already have radios, you should already have a licence. If you’d like your new radios to work with your existing fleet, you need to send us:

    • A copy of your existing Ofcom licence
    • For digital radios:
      • Let us know which frequencies are in which channel
      • Which colour code you use
      • Which digital group ID you use
    • For analogue radios:
      • Let us know which frequencies are in which channel
      • What CTCSS/TPL/DPL tone you use

Alternatively, you can send us a programming file from one of your existing radios, or even post us one of your existing handsets so that we can make sure we match it correctly.

Note that we accept no responsibility for radios which do not work due to incorrectly provided information. We’ll program your radios for free upon order, but if they don’t work and need re-programming there will be a £10 + VAT fee per unit.
