Offering outstanding value dual mode analogue-digital radio, this radio is targeted at users in the construction, security, manufacturing and logistics sectors. The PD405 is lightweight and easy to use for everyone, offering a high quality performance and flexibility this is the ideal communication solution for businesses.
The PD405 is able to operate in both analogue and digital mode simultaneously, due to Hytera advanced signalling technology this radio is able to work on both at the same time. This is done through automatically detecting the signal type from other radios and then switching accordingly, other radios are billed as a ‘hybrid’ meaning that they can be programmed to work on either analogue or digital however this radio allows you to switch.
This radio is the ideal migration radio as it can be used in mixed analogue and digital fleets. Typically upgrading from older analogue models to a new digital two way radio can be expensive however the Hytera PD405 allows you to make the step up gradually. As you add more and more, you will receive the benefits of digital two way radio performance whilst still talking seamlessly to the older analogue models.
The PD405 has a sleek, slimline design which is the perfect sixe to sit comfortably in the palm of you hand. This makes carrying the radio around all day easy and it does not get in the way. The controls are straightforward. Including a push-to-talk (PTT) button, two programmable buttons, channel select and volume control this makes the radio the ideal choice for the novice two way radio user as well as the more experienced professional.
Performance wise, this radio demonstrates all of the benefits of two way radio technology which offers high quality audio which is able to cut through loud and clear environments. With up to 16 hours of battery life on a single charge this radio is perfect for successful communication in the working environment.
The PD405 proves its versatility with a flexible range of communication options. As well as standard whole network ‘All Call’ mode, this radio can offer private and group calling, this allows colleagues and supervisors to targer messages and communicate more efficiently. To increase the capacity of the number of calls which can be made on the network at once, the direct mode allows two way conversations to take place simultaneously on the same digital voice slot.
To make this radio more convenient when operatives are busy, there is the option to switch to VOX, this means a voice activation mode. With this function then it means that calls are able to be made by just talking, this means that the PTT button does not have to be pressed making the PD405 the perfect radio for busy businesses. Another function which makes using this radio effective is the ability to have pre-programmed text messages, these are put into the handset and can be sent using one of the additional function buttons.

Yes! This radio is a full-power unit which works on licensed spectrum. Here’s a few important points to remember:
- Licencing is really easy and cost effective, so don’t be put off
- You only licence the frequency (channel) your radios use, not the number of radios or handsets
- If you’re buying radios to use outside of the UK, you will need to get a licence from your country’s regulatory body
- Want us to guide you through it? Call us on 01778 426777 or email info@theradioshop.co.uk
Buy a licence online:
This is a multi-pack item. If you need a licence, just select the option to include a licence on the right-hand side and we'll do all the rest. Once you place your order, we’ll apply for the licence for you, which is valid for 5 years. Ofcom will then contact you directly in 5 years’ time to arrange the renewal.
Remember: you don’t need a licence per radio, just a licence fleet of radios. One licence will usually provide enough cover for your company or site (or you as an individual if you’re buying for private use)
I already have a licence:
If you already have radios, you should already have a licence. If you’d like your new radios to work with your existing fleet, you need to send us:
- A copy of your existing Ofcom licence
- For digital radios:
- Let us know which frequencies are in which channel
- Which colour code you use
- Which digital group ID you use
- For analogue radios:
- Let us know which frequencies are in which channel
- What CTCSS/TPL/DPL tone you use
Alternatively, you can send us a programming file from one of your existing radios, or even post us one of your existing handsets so that we can make sure we match it correctly.
Note that we accept no responsibility for radios which do not work due to incorrectly provided information. We’ll program your radios for free upon order, but if they don’t work and need re-programming there will be a £10 + VAT fee per unit.
